Tim Curtis
Director and UNESCO Representative of the New Delhi Regional Office for South Asia
Mr. Tim Curtis is the Director and UNESCO Representative of the New Delhi Regional Office for South Asia covering Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives and Sri Lanka, a position he has held since October 2023.
Prior to this appointment he served for close to 8 years as the Secretary of UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, overseeing both the statutory and operational dimensions of UNESCO’s global programme for Living Heritage from UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
He has close to thirty years of experience in the field of culture and sustainable development in diverse contexts, with research and professional experience in the Pacific, East Africa, South East and South Asia as well as Europe.
He holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the Australian National University and has served with UNESCO for over twenty years across three continents.
