Ms. Sima Das is the Manager, Manure & Organic Assurance at Sundarban Co-operative Milk & Livestock Producers' Union Ltd (Sundarini Naturals). She holds a PhD in Agriculture Extension, M.Sc in Agriculture & Rural Development and Master of Social work.
Sundarban Co-operative Milk & Livestock Producers’ Union Limited also known as Sundarban Milk Union is a cooperative organisation established in the year 2003 that operates in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sunderbans in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
Fuelled by extreme willpower and support from Government of West Bengal, West Bengal Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd. and technical support from National Diary Development Board around 5000 women farmers of Sundarban Islands keep their own organization alive and thriving in one of the most challenging terrains in the country.
Sundarini’s unique cooperative model, tireless efforts of the professionals and honest practice of the farmers has brought them multiple recognitions, nationally and internationally. In October 2024, Sundarini won the Dairy Innovation Award 2024 from the International Dairy Federation (IDF) at the World Dairy Summit, Paris, France in the category, Innovative and Sustainable Farming Practices – Socio-Economic and Organic Medal of Honor by Xichong International Organic Innovation Summit, China and IFOAM Asia in 2019.
