Food books we enjoyed reading in 2023

Continuing with our celebration of food writing and food writers at the turn of the year! Let’s look back with fondness.

In no particular order and definitely not a ranking, here are a few books that were published in 2023 and we loved reading them. This time to cast the net wider and have included publications from world food.

1. National Dish: Around the World in Search of Food, History, and the Meaning of Home by Anya von Bremzen

2. Pomegranates and Artichokes by Saghar Setarah

3. Adukkala by Tia Anasuya

4. Masaleydaar: Classic Indian Spice Blends by Nandita Godbole

5. Eating the Present, Tasting the Future: Exploring India Through Her Changing Food by Charmaine O’Brien

6. The Bloomsbury Handbook of Indian Cuisine – An anthology edited by Colleen Taylor Sen, Sourish Bhattacharyya, Helen Saberi

Please let us know in comments what books from this year have made it to your shelves, and which of those would you love to recommend as ‘Must Reads’. We will love to the turn the comments section into a recommendation list that others can dive into.
